Introducing Genuinely Jane Studios! Yep, we did it! Mark and I started our own company manufacturing wood mini-albums, embellishments and items for altering! So far things are going swimmingly well! We've started to hire reps and orders are coming in. The response to our product has been terrific. We will be announcing some more great news very soon!

On a personal note, I miss my boys terribly, but I was out to NJ last week to visit, and, hopefully, they will both be out here next month for a visit.

Our puppy, Sebastian is the most adorable, fun and affectionate pooch ever, but man! is he ever the little devil!

Today he had a visit to the vet - only 20 weeks old and 45 pounds! What a moose!

We also stopped by to pick up the ceramics that Hunter and I made. Fun stuff!

Back on the Trail...

WOW! What a long, strange trip it's been since I've last blogged! My divorce is almost final. I met the man of my dreams (after DH and I split up - just to clarify!) I moved to Missouri with him and got a puppy! (How's that for a quick recap :P)

I feel stronger, more in control and happier than I've been in years. My job is going fantastically well and I am ready to scrap again. I have zillions of creative ideas bottled up in my head that need to get out.

I hope to share some creations and updates soon...stay tuned! And thanks for sticking by me!

Since the beginning of January, I have lost 18 pounds...I started off great in January (with exercise and watching what I ate)..but fell off the wagon when we went on the cruise.

For the past week or so, I've been back to the gym 5/7 days..and tracking my food and exercise at www.sparkpeople.com I'm doing great..the funny thing is..I'm not even craving any of the Easter candy or goodies that are all over our house (maybe I am craving the CASE of girl scout cookies DH brought home yesterday), but I'll persevere!

My job is going fantastically well..I think I'm going to keep on loving it..so far, it's been almost 7 weeks..but I'm really getting into the swing of it..plus, my boss is fantastic..

So..that's the scoop...I'l write more soon.

Life is not always what it seems

In the past few weeks, I have learned that life is not always what is seems. I've realized that I need to take care of ME - something that I haven't been doing for years. I've also realized that I am stronger than I gave myself credit for and, in the end, I will be just fine.

I have the love of Christ, our Lord to sustain me and a handful of friends to sound off on.

I wish you all the most joyous Easter...

Here's a few of my latest layouts..I'll be adding more soon..I haven't been doing my best work lately, but it sure is good therapy just to scrap!

A Sad Day...

Last night, our dog, Bach died suddenly. He was eleven and had been in some pain on and off with his bad hip, but just yesterday morning, he was romping in the backyard.

In the afternoon, he couldn't get up, wouldn't eat and then started a rapid decline. Hunter stayed with him and comforted him until the end. We knew that the vet wouldn't be able to do anything..fortunately....he only suffered a few hours. It was so sad. He was a good dog, obedient, friendly, calm...and always had to play second fiddle to Hoover. We will miss you Bach.

On Monday, we headed into NYC to spend the night for the NY Giants ticker tape parade on Tuesday. We had a great meal and enjoyed just hanging out in the city for the night. The parade was amazing...crazy, loud, fun...just a great experience..so glad we went to honor our team.

Later in the week, Brett lost 30% of the hearing in his right ear...suddenly, no pain..very strange. The doctor said it was a good old fashioned ear infection. He's on meds and will need a recheck for the hearing in three weeks...the hearing has not come back yet..yikes!

Then, I got a stye in my eye..made it feel like sandpaper was in there..ouch! No contacts for a week....and I just don't see as well in my glasses...

Friday, I started my new job...so far..I love it..I pray that this is the place the Lord wants me to be. And working from home is just fabulous!

Superbowl 42 CHAMPIONS!!!!!

Yes! The Giants have won the Superbowl! They have beaten the team favored to win (by 12 points!)..the Patriots! Hunter is crushed and no one can speak to him tonight...the rest of us are ecstatic!!! They won!!!! The broken sack by Eli Manning and the pass to Tyree were absolutely amazing...definately one of the top plays in Superbowl history..then the winning reception by Burress for the win! Eli totally deserved the MVP for the amazing last drive of the game!!!!WOOHOO! Hubby, Brett and I are planning on heading to the ticker tape parade in NYC on Tuesday..how flipping exciting is that?!?!?! GIANTS ARE SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS! WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!

Working 9 to 5...

What a way to make a living....Well, not 9 to 5, but I am going back to work! After an interview process spanning a few weeks, I'm excited to announce that I got the job! I'm headed back to the HR field specializing in executive recruiting for the energy industry! I'll be working from my home office (just 20 or so hours per week) for a great company that has been in business for over twenty years. The owner/managing partner seems to be a great man with a solid business and the company is quite successful. I'm looking forward to working in this exciting industry.

In other news, Brett's basketball team won in OT today...it was a fun, nail-biting game! Tomorrow his football team plays at the Meadowlands and then it's time for some Superbowl fun!

I hope to share some scrapping with you all soon...I'm planning to "hit" the studio today...

This Sunday is the big day! First, Brett plays in his football tournament at the Giant's stadium "bubble"...they are hoping to get in some paybacks from the dirty play of a particular team at the National Tournament....

Then...it is the SUPERBOWL! Never has a Superbowl been more exciting in our home. Hunter is an avid Patriots fan and the rest of us are Giants fans! To celebrate, we are having a small party for game watching. Either way, some of us will be happy and some of us not-so-happy....

The other day, Brett and I went to TJ Maxx..we saw a fabulous shirt..it said:

"18-0 and
ONE
GIANT
LOSS
Maybe next year, Patriots!"

Of course, this is referring to the fact that the Patriots are 18-0 this year..and the Giants plan on beating them in the Superbowl...Great, isn't it????? We thought so..

On another front, a dear family friend will be undergoing a mastectomy and reconstruction on Monday for breast cancer...she will then start chemo...please keep Gina in your prayers.

Changes a brewing....

Yep...changes are a coming. We've been praying for the right job opportunity for me to come about..one that will add the needed income to our household, yet allow me to be the primary teacher and caregiver to our children. Opportunity has knocked...I'm answering the door and listening for God to lead me where He wants me to go. If you are so inclined, please keep our family in your prayers as we go through this process.

On another note, it's strange what going on vacation will do for you. Oh, ok..yes, the tan is nice...but I mean how it recharges you and refocuses you on where you want to go in life. I'm ready to get back to the gym after the cruise and begin a new chapter in my life professionally and family-wise.

I'm also itching to scrap..it's been awhile...the move to the new scrap space was disrupting, but I'm ready to go now..I hope to share some fun creations with you soon!

I have not fallen off the face of the earth! LOL We arrived home on Sunday after a glorious 9 day cruise to the Southern Caribbean on Norwegian Cruise Line. Here's just a sampling of the photos I took while we were away. It's hard to come back to freezing temps after 9 straight days of 85 degree weather on the sunny seas..oh, well...I can always relive the moments through my scrapbooks (if I ever get around to scrapping..seems like it's been forever!)

So many things to post about...but, I'll just start here....

"Baby's" First Portrait

So...a few months ago, we got Hunter a bird. See..he and a friend were in the back playing and came across and injured/sick bird. They brought him home, hand fed him worms and water and tried to rehab him. Hunter searched the internet and found articles on caring for sick wild birds. He used a wildlife book to identify the bird. He was fascinated with this bird. We tried, but we're not able to help him (you should have seen us trying to tape a sling on his wing!)...so, we called the county wildlife department and brought him in to be helped.

Hunter was soooo sad...so, what did I do? Bought him a parakeet..yep...so, we've had the fellow "Crash" (his wings are clipped and he crashes into everything when he flies).. for a few months now. We take him out as often as we can to try to hold him and get us used to him. Here is his first "portrait"...he's such a cutie..and, for some reason, loves me (I'm the only one who he will let hold him)...Hunter is in love....so..welcome to the family, Crash

I Killed Santa Claus

I didn't mean to, really. It just, well...happened. I'll you what happened, the whole ugly truth.

Last night, Hunter was laying in my bed with me. I was reading. He turned to me and said,

"Mom, do you swear on Jesus that Santa Claus is real?"

...Uh, oh...not good.

I said "He was always real to me."

"But, really, Mom.", he pleaded.

"What do you think?", the standard "mom" answer, right?

"I think that he can't be real", he answered.

I stammered, "But, why?"

"Moooo-ooom..because, really..it doesn't make any sense". He whined.

"Well, Hunter, of course it doesn't make any sense...Santa uses magic"...(wouldn't any good mom say this??)

"But, mom, do you swear on Jesus?" he inquired.

WAIT! HOLD THE PHONE! I DO NOT SWEAR ON JESUS..but I could not lie...

"Well, honey, for many years people have claimed that Santa is real, he's different in other places in the world, but he does do nice things for people"...

"So, mom..Santa isn't real then, is he?" He cautiously asked.

"No, honey...only as real as we want him to be." I said quietly.

Suddenly, I saw the tears in his eyes - he still believed and I KILLED SANTA! But what was I to do???? We talked for awhile after..he did have his doubts about the validity of Santa, but he did believe until I did the evil deed.

A little while later, he said.."Mom, don't tell Daddy that I don't believe in Santa anymore. Christmas just won't be as fun. Let's just pretend for Daddy's sake, ok?"...my heart sank.

On another note, we took our Christmas photos yesterday..what do you think? I think they are two of the most handsome boys I've ever seen!

With correspondence cards! These cards were a cinch to make (they don't open..like postcard)...I used yummy Luxe papers and stamps from Savvy (words) and the Cat's Pajamas (drinks)...it's hard to tell in the scan, but I used watercolor pencils and my aqua pen for the drink container and twinkling H20s for the drink..I also used a glue pen and glitter for the stars on the container. Packaged with envelopes in a clear box..they are the perfect gift! I even made a matching book mark for the recipient...fun, fun! Who doesn't need a quick card for a short note every now and then??!? I'm off to make some more...

Don't Faint now!!

I just finished making my Christmas cards! WOOHOO! Now just to take a great photo of the boys and write them out (thank GOD I still have a few weeks!)...whatcha think? Mostly simple...a few didn't scan well..but, overall..I'm satisfied with them.

Yesterday, I took a ride to an awesome LSS in New Providence, NJ - Scraptasia. I've known the owner Dawn, for awhile now (she was formerly my client when I was a rep)...She is an amazing gal and fabulously talented! The store is wonderful for scrapbookers, but absolutely incredible for card and gift makers!!!!!! I spent WAY too much!!! OOPS!! But I did get a ton of cool things...like the ATG gun, Twinkling H20s, glitter mist, some fantastic stamps, paper, well..you get the idea! LOL I'm headed back there next Thursday for a class!! (Can you believe it!?!? I'm actually taking a class instead of teaching one!!!!! I'm sooooo excited!)...Sadly, my list of things to buy is huge despite the cash I dropped there yesterday! I'm telling ya..that store is addictive!!!

So...off to work on some more Christmas stuff..thanks for looking!

Whew! What a week!

We've been deep in the land of fundraising for my son's football team and their quest for the National Championship. We've raised $4000 in two weeks..and leave on Thursday. It's so exciting for the boys.

His tackle team won yesterday, too and will be in the playoffs..though Brett may not be there if they playoffs start when we are in Florida.

REGIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!

Woohooo! On Saturday, Brett's flag football team won the Regional NFL Flag Football Championship in Runnemede, NJ! They beat out 20 teams to win it all! So....since we have to be in Orlando on the 15th for the National Tournament at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex, we have only two weeks to do all of our team fundraising! ACK!

The boys are sooo excited! This is actually the third time that the team has won a regional and are playing in Disney. The first year, they came in last, the second time, third..so this is the year for them to win it all!

Since we are going to Orlando, we will have to cancel our trip to Louisville to see Rutgers play...so we have decided to spend a few extra days in Florida. I'm so excited to see the boys play in the "big one" again and enjoy a few days at the theme parks (I'm such a kid!).

So..the Yankees lost in the division series..I'm so sad AND they lost it on my birthday :( Yep, I turned 41 yesterday.

The boys and I went on a field trip with CHM to Wild West City in Netcong. Funny, but as a child, I loved the place..now, I wouldn't recommend it..very cheesy, very run down..but we had fun being together.

When we got home, we did "team clean" upstairs and then DH cooked a wonderful dinner for me..followed by yummy ice cream cake from Cold Stone Creamery...and gifts from the boys (lots of cool Yankee stuff...notebooks, pens, book covers and more!)...

Sadly, though...the night ended with the Yankees loss...what will I do with myself until baseball season starts again?? I'll sure miss my dear Johnny Damon!!!

This week, we are taking the week to work hard on composition and math, catch up on latin and begin to prepare for the geography fair. The kids chose Uzbekhistan!??!?!!? Why? I don't know... We are also going to start volunteering at the Community Action Service Center on Thursday...and take an afternoon to wrap utensils for a soup kitchen. That's what it's all about..loving God, and loving and serving others...

Ooops, I did it again...

Do you remember in the spring when I said that I wouldn't do anymore custom albums? Well, yesterday, a good friend approached me about doing two albums (one for her son and one for her daugher) for Christmas. About 40 pages each...I was sure that I would say no..but after talking it over with my husband and acknowledging that we could use the extra money..I agreed to do them.

Now, I'm in a panic..I barely have time to do everything on my plate as it is..and here I've committed to doing EIGHTY SCRAPBOOK PAGES by Christmas..ugh! My head is barely over water now with everything on my plate..what was I thinking? (yeah, money, I know)

Tomorrow, I plan on doing some online shopping for the books (the "themey" stuff)..and I'll start the books when the order arrives...

On another note, today Brett has a tackle game..I'm excited to watch him play again..He's just so dang good!

Sadly, Rutgers lost yesterday...but, hopefully, they will learn from their mistakes and be able to get back on a winning streak. Our family has plans to go to Kentucky to see Rutgers play Louisville in November. We are making it a short vacation..we'll visit the Creation Museum, the Louisville Slugger Factory and the Toyota Plant as well...

Well, off to catch up on my crazy life..

Where does the time go?

Life has been so very busy lately. Between schooling the boys, keeping up on the house, cooking and shuttling the boys to football (plus, of course, our homeschooling group and church activities)..I feel as though I can barely keep my head above water!

Last night, I went to a great seminar by Teri and Steve Maxwell (www.titus2.org) and hosted by our own homeschool group Crossroads Homeschool Ministry (www.homeschool-life.com/nj/crossroads) - yeah, Mo - you did a fabulous job organizing this!

They have written several books encouraging Christian families and helping families organize their time and kids's chores. I walked away convicted that, as a family, we have too much on our plates that take us away from the family. In addition, that I need to better schedule my time to fit in (calmly) what we do need to accomplish each day.

So, my plan is:

-to examine each area of our lives and determine if it adds to or takes away from the family.

- make a master schedule for chores, cooking, school and activities

- get back on track with scheduling meals and shopping lists

- read the Bible WITH the kids every day

- be the best wife and mother than I can be with the Lord's help

It's a tall order, but it is what I truly believe that God has predestined for me. Life, on this earth, is too short to waste chunks of hours on things that don't matter.

On another note, (after DS2's football game tonight) I'm having coffee with my dear friend, Johanna ...what a treat..she is always such a joy to be around!

I promise not to wait two weeks to post again..

Back to School!

Yesterday, we began our 7th year of homeschooling..whew! And, get this..we had a GREAT day! Hunter was already working at 9:30am (our official start time) and Brett wasn't far behind..very few "attitudes" and great quality work. Praise God!

Hunter also had his first flag football game of the year..he did a great job as QB! His first time at that position! They lost, but "only by one touchdown", he says. His next game is Saturday..he's already excited!

Brett had a nice honor bestowed on him yesterday. At the start of tackle practice, the coach called out three kids who were the most dedicated, hardworking and committed, shared their "attitude" cards with the rest of the team and gave only those three their Robbinsville R's for their helmets. They led the team at practice yesterday. Today, the rest of the team will get theirs..but what a motivator for Brett! He was so pumped last night! Football is truly his passion and being recognized for his heart on the field was so inspiring for him! I have no doubt that he will realize his dream of playing for Div 1 football..hopefully, Rutgers!

His first game is next Sunday...we all can't wait! He's still playing flag this year as well and has a game tonight and Saturday...as hard as he works for tackle..flag is just fun for him.

On another note, I haven't been scrapping as much as I'd like to lately...I'm really hoping to get in some quality scrapping time this weekend...I'll be sure to post my projects, If I do.

Sports Chick

Yep, that's me..a sports chick. I love sports..love to watch them, really..can't play them worth a hoot. Yesterday was wonderful. First, I watched my beloved Yankees SWEEP those nasty rivals, the Boston Red Sox...Robinson Cano hit two homers (gosh, I love that guy) to put the Yankees on top. They are still 5 games behind the Sox in the AL East, but ahead by 1 game in the Wildcard Race..

Then, I had the pleasure of watching my boys practice football to gear up for their seasons that begin next week - I'm such a proud mama!

And, finally, we watched Rutgers kick the pants out of Buffalo..last night..38-3!! They are embarking on a thrilling season! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS!

Although I watch preseason NFL..it doesn't mean much, so I certainly don't plan my life around it (like I do during regular season)..but I'm also a BIG fan of the NY Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers...Being the daughter of a Western PA native, I've always loved the Steelers..being married to a Giants fan, I have no choice but to root for the Giants! (although, DH is a Mets fan...I'm still working on him!:)

We are such sports geeks in this house that I have my own Fantasy Baseball team (and I'm rocking, by the way) and our family has it's own Fantasy Football league....my team is GiGi's Gridiron Greats...

Sports are such a big part of my life that I felt the burning need to share that with you. I think sports are an analogy for life..you need skill, mental and physical strength, a game plan and faith. You need to know what you are up against (Satan) to prepare....you need a coach (God) to train you and encourage you through the tough times..you need your team to keep you accountable (your church community and Godly friends)...sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, but your coach never leaves you mid-season.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (GNT)Surely you know that many runners take part in a race, but only one of them wins the prize. Run, then, in such a way as to win the prize. Every athlete in training submits to strict discipline, in order to be crowned with a wreath that will not last; but we do it for one that will last forever. I harden my body with blows and bring it under complete control, to keep myself from being disqualified after having called others to the contest.

August 29th?!?!?! How did that happen?? It seems like last week we were celebrating New Year's!!! This weekend, we'll have our last hurrah at our beach house and return on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we'll begin our SEVENTH year of homeschooling!?!?! (again, how did that happen?!?!)

I'm in the throes of doing lesson plans and preparing our year. Much easier since I'm no longer working! I forgot how much I love to be a homebody!!! I've been cooking nearly everyday (a new phenomenon!)...and found that I'm addicted to cooking shows - especially Rachel Ray!

Sadly, with me not working, today is the last day with our cleaning ladies..meaning, I will need to do more cleaning..oh, well..it was too good to last forever! LOL

On another note, the Lord has convicted me to get back to a church community. I visited a church on Sunday and was thrilled..it felt like home to me in one visit. On Monday, I went to a Mom's Prayer Group sponsored by the same church...and, again, felt right at home. Of course, I want to bring the kids there first (I visited alone on Sunday) and see if it truly is a good fit for our family..but, God has plans for me...He led me to that church for a reason..whether a short season or a church home, I don't know yet...but I'll wait for Him to reveal His plans..

Well..off to finish lesson plans!

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changing...

Yes, life is changing for me..for those of you that don't know..I resigned from my rep job last week. There were alot of factors that weighed on this decision..but, it was the best one for my family. So...now what??

Well, we are getting ready to start our SEVENTH year of homeschooling! Where did the time go??? This will most likely be Brett's last year homeschooling..since football is his first love, he'll need to go to a high school to continue to play. It breaks my heart to sacrifice home learning and education for football..but I need to step aside and let him go..this is his passion....

Tonight is our homeschool group's Advisory Board meeting..Our group is in it's sixth year..I've been the Executive Director from the beginning..it has been such a joy to watch the group grow both in numbers and scope. I've been so blessed to be surrounded by such godly women who lift me up. God has blessed us each with diferent gifts and seeing us work together is just amazing! To God be the glory! We started out with a monthly co-op class and now have a yearbook, 2-3 field trips per month, special events, speakers, a book club, fellowship nights and so much more to minister to homeschooling families.

On another front, I spoke with Jenn from Moxxie last week..the new fall releases are almost ready to hit the printers!!!! And..they are currenty working on the CHA Winter 2008 releases!! HOLY COW! Where does the time go? I'm anxiously awaiting their new releases...they are always sooooo wonderful!

Well..off to do some DT projects for Moxxie today..I'll be working with their wrestling, dance and fall lines..can you say YUMMY!??!?!?!?!

Life...

In the past week, life has taken some interesting turns. God has opened my eyes to many things within my heart and around my family. Isn't it funny that we can chug along in life and be oblivious to how our life impacts those around us, until God convicts us and shows us our heart? That's where I am now.

In addition, I met with a Dr yesterday who I believe forever changed my life in that one office visit. He is an amazing, caring man and just may have unlocked something that could change my life. I truly believe the the Lord himself forged an opportunity for me to meet Dr. S.

On another note, Brett started football practice yesterday. He is playing on a competitive team that will travel all over South Jersey to compete. The coach is very tough, but, funny and compassionate at the same time. Since he is homeschooled, this will be his last year of playing football..unless he decides to go to school next year. After 7 years of homeschooling, I'm just a bit nervous about that! But, whatever is best for him, is ok with me.

Well, I'm in a contemplative mood today..so before I get too philosophical, I'll stop..more soon, though..

On the Road Again

Well, I'm off! To Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas this time! I'll be visiting a number of stores, showing them the latest and greatest in the scrapping and stamping worlds!

I'll be bringing my DS to hang out with his cousins out there. The plan is to head to Cape May from Pittsburgh late Friday night or Saturday and spend the weekend there relaxing a bit.

So..off we go! I hope to share some pics of my very cool store owners and their stores when I return!

I am back from CHA and my head is spinning from all of the fantastic new products out there!

Of course, it is always great to see new and old friends, too! On Friday, the gals from Moxxie (Jennifer, Jen and Sue) and Robyn Weatherspoon, her very cool friend and I went to dinner. We certainly laughed more than we ate! Those girls are crazy, but man, I love them all! We had a great time!

I also spent time with some of my super cool store owners: Dawn from Scraptasia, Jane from The Crazy Cropper, Benedette from The Crop Room, Angela from Scrapbook Cafe, Amy from Scrapbook Super Station and Stephanie from Scrap a Doodle Doo! Oh, and we certainly can't forget Dee from Mass!!

A Soldier's Prayer

With July 4th approaching and our soldier's overseas and here fighting, I thought it would be appropriate to share a project that I made for Moxxie (using their Red, White and Blue line)...it is a tag book. On each "page" is another verse from a prayer that I found "A Soldiers' Prayer". As soon as I can, I plan to mail it to my friend Kim A. Her son, Zach has enlisted in the Army and will report on July 4th. I want her to know that our prayers are with Zach and all of the servicemen and women serving our country. We are so blessed to have unselfish men and women serving our country for our freedom and way of life. This is for Zach and Kim:

A Soldier's Prayer

No harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.
For He will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways - Psalm 91:10-11

Whenever you see this star, please pray for me.
For on a lonely journey, I will be.
Serving my country by protecting this land,
Created so uniquely by the Master's Hand.

Pray for my protection and safety as I go,
Deliverence from the evil snares of my foes.
Pray for my courage to be brave and strong,

Well, after 12 days..my dad is home from the hospital! Praise GOD! He is getting stronger everyday, but will need a few weeks more recovery time. We are all thrilled that he is home! Thank you all for your prayers!

I'm sooo busy catching up in my office and with scrapping...I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, though...I hope to scrap my little heart out this Sunday and Monday after 3 days on the road as a rep.

Next week is a big week for our household..both boys will be celebrating birthdays..Hunter will be 10 (on the 5th) and Brett will be 14th (on the 10th). We are celebrating by having a birthday bash at the Trenton Thunder Game on Tuesday! We have 25 people coming..it should be a great time!

Then, later in the week, we are headed to the beach for our homeschool camping weekend..it's also the annual fishing derby there..always a super time!

On another front..Moxxie will be announcing the 3 new Design Team members on Friday! WOOHOOO! I can't wait to see who I'll be working with!

My Dad

Yesterday, I took my dad to the Dr. I finally convinced him to go after several weeks of feeling worse and worse. Once there, they did an EKG and sent us right to the ER. He has a VERY high heart rate and VERY low blood pressure, VERY high blood sugar, fluid in the lungs and more..they just don't know what is wrong with him. They admitted him to the Intensive Care unit.

I'm an only child and with mom gone, it's just me. I'm not looking for pity, just prayer. Trying to be a mom, daughter and wife, at times, can be overwhelming.

My dad has always been in great shape (despite heart disease). He has a very active social life - out every night..vacations, dinners, movies, bingo..and a girlfriend. He has always looked young for his age (he's 76) and, when I was young, my friends had a crush on him. (Must be his gorgeous blue eyes and year round tan).

It's so tough to see him suffering like this. Please keep my dad in your prayers - compassion and care from the medical staff and comfort for my dad. I'll update soon.

Mother's Day Reflections

This weekend, my oldest son and I went to the PA homeschooling convention. It's one of my favorite weekends of the year. By this point, each homeschooling year, I (and the kids) are getting burnt out..just aching for summer...but the convention gets me rejuvinated. Being there, hearing the speakers, seeing the curriculum, talking to other homeschooling families...reminds me why our family chose this path. I get excited to try new things and have some fun learning. Ahhh..I just love it.

Mother's Day is always bittersweet for me. My dear mother went to be with the Lord almost eight years ago. Not a day goes by that I don't miss her terribly. She truly was a great woman. She loved to cook and make others happy. Serving my father (and me) was what she lived for. She LIVED diversity and always had friends that were different that our family. Racism did not exist in her vocabularly..she loved everyone for who they were inside, not outside.

She adored my oldest son...he was her everything..the first grandchild. By the time, my 2nd came around..she was too ill to enjoy him. She loved him, but my oldest was the light of her life. I know she is watching them grow, but I would love to hear her remark about how big and
wonderful the boys have become. This mother's day, I miss her more than ever.

I love you mom.

So..I didn't go to the beach after all. My dad is not feeling well ...so I needed to stay home with him. I am really enjoying the quiet, though, since DH took the boys anyway!!! This morning, dad and I are going to try to go out to breakfast..depending on how he feels. It's so nice to have father/daughter time - he'll always be my daddy!

I also hope to scrap today in honor of National Scrapbooking Day! This is OUR holiday - no the schools or businesses don't close and yes, the mail still gets delivered, but this is our day to celebrate the art that we are passionate about.

Yep! That's been my theme for the week. I don't mean laundry or paperwork (I had to do those anyway!)..but I mean do SOMETHING. I watched American Idol this week and cried my eyes out over the sick, dying and hungry children all over this world. I NEEDED to do something. So..what did I do?

* I signed up (with my kids) to serve filling orders at a Food Pantry twice a month

* I registered to help on a crew with Habitat for Humanity

* Our homeschool group is planning a drive for items for the food pantry

* Our family is holding a garage sale tomorrow (weather permitting) and donating the proceeds to World Vision and/or Save the Children

I know that I can't do it all..but if EVERYONE did SOMETHING - we could change the world. God has blessed my family so richly. It's time we step up and bless others. What can YOU do to DO SOMETHING???????

I've got a secret...shhhhh..

I can't tell you yet, but I can tell you that I'm very excited....ya know..sometimes, when things happen..we wonder why. Recently, I've had a situation, in the industry, that really made me think - think about the people in this industry..people as a whole..and my own role in it.

But, I just KNEW that God had other plans for me..and, He did. First Ranger U...now this...I am blessed..truly blessed.

On another note, for the past 13 hours, we've been mopping and shopvaccuuming water in our basement as it literally POURS in..but, it's all good..I realize, as this is happening, how the folks in New Orleans truly suffered. This is minor compared to that. I pray that they are continuing to build and that they open their hearts to the big plan that God has in store for them.

As soon as I can tell my secret...you'll be the first to know!:)

Ranger University Here I Come!!!!

Yep! You read that right! I was accepted into Ranger University's Ink and Embossing Powder Certification Program!! I'll be attending the University at Ranger HQ from May 18-20th..along with 17 other gals from around the globe! I can't even tell you how excited I am!

I look forward to learning even more about Ranger products and using them to express my creativity! I'll be rooming with Sandy H. (a gal I met at CHA Summer 2006!)...and one other gal from Canada. I'm sure we'll have a blast!

Bad scans, cool projects

yep..don't faint..I'm blogging twice in one day!! I just had to share some of the fun projects I'll be doing for upcoming classes. One is a Big Bad Brad class based on the book by Design Originals (two cards and a LO). My camera broke and my scanner is mad at me today, so the photos/scans are terrible..but, hopefully, you'll get the basic ideas.

The black and white wedding card is for a card class at Sparta Stationery..we'll be using the yummy Classic Black line from Luxe and the cutest Bride/groom stamp from Judikins...I just love the simple and classic feel of this card!!

While at the SGC Trade Show last weekend, Leesa from Creative Impressions gave me a class kit filled with several of the items to make the cards from their class. Last night, I made them and all I can say is "WOW"! I've always loved their stuff..especially the ribbons (I just want to ROLL in the silk ribbons!)...and their clips, photo turns, brads, etc..but, I had a blast making these cards..thought you might enjoy them...

The patterned paper is from Scenic Route, the pre-cut cards are from The Paper Cut. Rubons and U stamp are from My Sentiments Exactly.

New Friends and Old

This weekend was the Susan Gilman and Company trade show in Framingham, Mass. The days were long, sleep was scarce, but it was all good.

As a rep, I was assigned a variety of duties from directing guestst to their classrooms to helping out in the classes and checking lunch tags.

I came home with my head spinning from all of the great ideas (and the stomach bug I caught while I was there!).

The most enjoying aspect of the weekend, though..was getting to know so many great people. It's so cool to see the industry from various perspectives and I just love hearing what the manufacturers have to share.

Jenn and Jennifer from Moxxie are about the sweetest folks you can imagine. Funny, talented and so dang likeable! I feel like I've known them forever!!

Jennifer and Amy from Luxe are too cool for words..so together, so focused and so talented - and a hoot, too!

Ana Arujo (designer and Dir. of Education for Petaloo) is a sweetie! I enjoyed helping her in her class, on order day and our excursion to Staples (oh, and Starbucks!).

Angie and Jennifer E from Paper Salon were so fun! I actually was able to join in on this class and LOVED the tag book we made! Man, their products rock!

Stacy and Ken from Junkitz are crazy as ever, fun as ever and talented as ever! NO one was dissapointed after one of their classes!

Jennifer B (designer and instructor for Autumn Leaves) was a joy to get to know - and man! is that girl talented!!!

There were so many more great folks I got to know...and get reacquainted with - "my" stores, for one: Amy from Kinnon Keepsakes, Dawn from Scraptasia, Jane from The Crazy Cropper, Denise from Busy Bee Scrapbooks (I still have your gift!!), Jan and Diane from De Pue Rubber Stamp Emporium and last, but certainly not least - Chris and Sue from Scrappers Cove. I just love you all!

Well..I am knee deep in boxes of catalogs and samples..so I'm off, but I'll be sharing some super samples from the make and take night real soon..

Whew! I will be a teaching fool these coming months! I am so fortunate to be sharing my passion with others!

At www.scrapperscove.com, (Milltown, NJ) in March, I will be teaching a flag album and card technique class (see samples below)..in April..I'll be teaching an adorable Spring/Easter album using Bo Bunny's fantastic class kits and a gift pail/with card and tag using Stampendous clear pails, fun stamps and class A peels!!

At www.Paper-potamus.com, (Old Bridge, NJ)..in April,. I'll start our book of the month club and technique classes.

At Sparta Stationery plus (www.ssplus1.com) in March. I'll be teaching two classes: one featuring Hero Art stamps, the other featuring Printworks stamps.

How do I love thee Scrapbooking..let me count the ways:

1. I love the creative outlet you provide.

2. I love knowing that I am leaving my children the story of their lives.

3. I love knowing that with each LO I create, I am giving my children a priceless gift.

4. I love the friends I have made through this obsession.

5. I love the tactile aspect..the textures, oh, my!

6. I love the "me" time, it provides.

7. I love that Scrapbooking is my job..making money for doing what I love to do..it doesn't get any better than that!

8. I love the colors that scrapbooking surrounds me with...like visiting a new art gallery everyday.

9. I actually love that I am sooo far behind in my scrapbooking that I will never catch up.

10. Oh, Scrapbooking..how I love thee...you are a part of my life, a part of my creative soul.

Worldwin..wow!

This paper is soooo yummy! I created these two LO's using Worldwin's doublemates..they are for my DT gig at www.transparenttouches.com While a departure from my usual style..I tried to feature the cardstock and used NO patterned paper! For me, that is a small miracle. This cardstock is beautiful!

Sorry for the crooked scan on Star Struck..no matter what I did..I could NOT get it straight!

WHEW! Life has been soooo busy! Between school with the boys, basketball games and scrapping..I'm running on caffeine this month! I've been teaching at Scrappers Cove and Sparta Stationery and doing demos at Riverside Scrapbook and Paperpotamus..and visiting scrap and stamp stores all over NJ, DE and PA!!

Yep, I'm back from California! CHA was amazing, but tiring! There are so many fabulous new releases! I'm soooo excited about Luxe and Tinkering Ink! I'll post some photos as soon as I get caught up...

Also really great were Queen and Co (the new felt ribbon is fabulous!)..Hero Art Month Stamps...Technique Tuesday..yummy stamps and the not so new, but still fabulous technique tiles...

Jayne, Lori, Cindy, Karen, Kim and the mom of the group, Sue Gilman were all wonderful! We had tons of laughs between the craziness of the show! I'm so happy to be working with them!

I'm headed out for a day of meeting with stores in PA..showing all the latest and greatest from CHA..I'll add some pics soon!

Off to CHA! WHOOOHOOO! I simply cannot wait! I have an 8:15am flight and I am NOT an early bird..so wish me luck! :)

February will be a BUSY month for me! On the Road Again!

We are back from our wonderful trip to Ohio! We had a great time visiting with friends and scrapping...now it's back to reality!

Today, I'm visiting an ephemera store in North NJ for my rep job..I can't wait to see what goodies they have.

AND I leave in EIGHT DAYS for CHA! I simply cannot wait! There are so many amazing new releases that I just can't wait to get my hands on! Scenic Route, Maya Road, American Crafts and so much more! YUMMY!

My good buddy Shannon and I are doing the buddy scrapping contest at www.sassacraft.com It's been a ton of fun so far..this week and one more and it's over..

BUT...I'm also doing the survivor contest at www.scrapbookchalet.com and I LOVE the LO that I did using the sketch for this week - it's about my dear, sweet Brett and his football season. This week everyone moved on..since several dropped out...can't wait to get started on this week's LO - about my town. I've never done a LO about East Windsor before..what a great push that I needed.

ROAD TRIP!!

Yep! Hunter and I are leaving tomorrow for a last minute trip to visit my dear buddy, Kim in Ohio!! We will be playing and scrapping and laughing and scrapping and shopping and scrapping..did I say scrapping?? LOL

Kim is the QUEEN of altering (she is on the Maya Road and Therm-o-web DTs)...so we'll be playing a lot, I'm sure!

We'll be back on Tues or Wed...gotta love these last minute trips for girlfriend time!!

I mentioned that I've been working on a bear of a custom album..you see, this album is book bound, 9 1/2 x 13 and the client has very specific preferences..so..while all you see is not my usual..it is what I've been up to...here are a few of the pages (they look a bit empty because I've left room for the client to journal)...Enjoy!

Musings of the New Year

I guess the with the New Year, I've been thinking about life in general. How life is what you make it. How good begets good. For a long time, I lamented about not making a certain DT or not getting this or that pub..but ya know what? Those that have, put in their "dues", worked hard, and, in most cases are BETTER than me! Yep, I admit it. And ya know what else? I'm happy for them! If my time is to come, then it will. If it doesn't, I am enjoying the process. I am creating..I am getting paid for my passions...and I am happy!

I'm also working on simplifying this year. I don't love doing custom work..so I won't do as much of it. I do love teaching, so I'll do more of it. I'm purging the house and organizing and that makes me feel freer.

I'm taking the time to let others know they are loved and appreciated. For my husband, it's through a home-cooked meal and a clean house. For my kids, it's taking the time to watch a movie, play a game or build legos with them. For my friends, it's a card, an e-mail, a hug.

To you reading this blog..know that you are appreciated and part of my happy, simple life.

Ok..so I'm a day late, but the wishes are still heartfelt!

We have a busy week and I'm determined to start the New Year right by finishing up some nagging projects. I'm working on a 40 page custom album for a client that I've been putting off..it's a biggie!! Then it's off to the LSS where I teach for an instructor's meeting.

I have a few reviews to write yet by the end of January for The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, too. Once those two monkeys are off my back, I can sit back and enjoy again! (until something else comes up! LOL)

Tomorrow, we start homeschooling again after our winter break, then we have dinner guests coming (DSs godfather)..should be fun - we haven't seen him in a few years!!

I'll be posting some new LOs later today..have a mahvelous one, all!

This Christmas was simply wonderful! Last night we had over 20 family members and friends for our Open House...a great time was had by all!!

This morning, my dear children were up at 6am!!!! ACK! I thought they were old enough to sleep in!! They rec'd nearly everything they asked Santa for and more!! They've been playing all day.

For me..I must have been a VERY good girl! Santa brought me a Cricut with two extra cartridges, slippers, mail shredder, make up, warm up suit, Yankees (JOHNNY DAMON!) Jersey and a wide format printer! Plus some other great items!! WOW!!!!

Tomorrow I plan to reorganize my office to fit all of my new toys in..and then I will SCRAP, SCRAP, Scrap!!!!!!

For all of my friends, cyber and near, I wish you the most joyous of Christmases...for today a savior is born!!!! God bless.

Gingerbread Architects

Ho, Ho, Ho! Merry Christmas!!

Today, I finished all of the baking for Christmas Eve - whew!! Nine types of cookies and 4 bars....then Hunter and I built and decorated gingerbread houses (the graham cracker kind)...check them out:

We had a ball...despite each of our falling apart several times and needing to rebuild..not bad for first timers,huh?

Yep! That's me today!! About to spend the rest of the day baking all sorts of yummy treats for Santa, his reindeer and our Christmas Eve guests. We'll have double chocolate mint cookies, lemon bars, magic bars, thumbprints, peanut butter cookies, snickerdoodles and much more!!

Hunter has been itching to make a gingerbread house so we'll make a few of those (but we are cheating and using graham crackers instead of gingerbread)! What a fun day we have planned!!

We'll crank up the Christmas carols and get baking! If I have any energy left, I'll make some pouches of Christmas candy with cute snowflake tags and ribbon for our guests ....

Paper love...

Yep, it's true. I'm a paper lover. Paper is a master vehicle to communicate the written word and art. It can be textured, smooth, white, bursting with color, tiny or huge. It can be ornamented with words or pictures (or both!) It feels soothing to the touch and to the soul.

As a reader and a scrapbooker, I am surrounded by paper, glorious paper. Paper has helped form me into the person I am today. I challenge you today to take a moment and appreciate our pulpy friend.

More on paper and other musings later...I'm off to Connecticut for the day to meet a vendor and my new boss!!

I am so excited to be working with Susan Gilman & Company!!! Susan and Robyn (the owners) are fantastic!! They are working hard to ensure that we represent the best scrapbooking and stamping companies on the market. I am working hard to get everything set up and show them what I am made of!!

I'll be in Anaheim, CA for CHA the last week of January viewing the latest and greatest our industry has to offer..hey, I might even take a class or two!! My goal is to learn as much as I can so that I can provide the best service to the scrapbook and stamping retailers in my area!! It's a win-win situation.

I'm even planning on applying for a Ranger University class in May!!

Life is good. Scrapping is good...and hey, Christmas is almost here..what could be better? I'm even done with Christmas cards and shopping! This is the earliest I've EVER been done!! (ok..I still have to wrap..but you won't tell, will ya??)

It's no secret that Scrapping is my passion...and I'm so happy to have it as my JOB, too! For 2007, I will be teaching at an AWESOME LSS (Scrappers Cove), Designing for a wonderful site, continuing to make custom albums for clients, selling my creations at a beautiful, upscale boutique AND working as a Manufacturer's Rep for some incredible manufacturers!! Yep, it's Friday...I am soooo excited for tomorrow..the BIG ALTERED CYBER CROP at Scrap-a-latte! YIPPEEE! I just can't wait to see what fantastic items we will be making!!!

And, get this..by the grace of God...we have NO PLANS tomorrow! Yep, no football or basketball practice..no nothing!! Just altering!!!

Of course on Sunday, we have football practice, basketball game and a youth group Christmas party..but that's ok!! Cuz by then....I'll be in altering heaven!

DH comes home tomorrow from hunting..it will be good to have him home. As nuts as he makes me sometimes, I do love that man!

I am still praying about some opportunities in the scrap field...I'll post as soon as I can about them...pray for me, oK?

Ugh! Another cold (or whatever)..I slept in today..then took a four and a two hour nap....I had enough energy to make four accordian Christmas albums in totes (I'll share when I grab the camera)..only 6 more to go!!

One of my friends at Scrap-a-latte, Alicia has been doing so many great things for others (a birthday cake to an elderly lady in a home, collecting scrap supplies for a recently displaced friend)..she got me thinking...what a better place this world would be if EVERYONE thought to do those random acts of kindness for others.

After a busy (ok..not so busy) day of sleeping in, catching up and basketball practice for DS, I finally got to get to my blog today!! My dear buddy, Shannon, helped me with the cool slider header and adding links - thanks, my friend!!

Tonight I took a cool class at Scrappers Cove (www.scrapperscove.com)..an accordian winter album in a tote! They also had Stacy P from Junkitz do several demos!! FANTASTIC STUFF!!! I had my photo taken with Stacy and her husband... They are the NICEST folks!! And sooo down to earth!

Sue and Christine, the owners of Scrappers Cove (BTW..it is a FANTASTIC store! If you live in central NJ - you HAVE to visit!)..asked me to be an instructor for them! I'll be teaching in January - a fun, New Year's Resolution altered book and a yet-to-be-named project...stay tuned!

DH is leaving for hunting tomorrow..can you say SCRAP TIME!?!?!?! I'll be working on some scrappy gifts and a sample for the January class at Scrappers Cove.

Today, just school for us..oh, and the usual house things. I started writing my Christmas cards..but man..my hand is tired! I'm so used to typing on the computer, my body isn't accustomed to doing that much writing! Ah, the modern world...

I sketched a few mini albums that I'll be making as gifts...I hope to get working on them tonight..

I have some super new projects to post..I'll do that, too.

FOOTBALL Stars!!!

Last Tuesday, we arrived home from Orlando, Florida where my son's team played in the NFL Flag Football National Championship. The boys came in THIRD IN THE NATION!! WOOHOO! We just found out that the tournament highlights will be televised on ESPN2

The December dates are:

12/10 - 1pm
12/15 - 5:30am
12/16 - 10:30am
12/23 - 12:30pm

I'm not sure how much of our team will be on there...it's only a 30 minute broadcast..but, nonetheless..it's exciting!!

Ahhh..Tuesday..we have one day under our belt!! Yesterday, I did a craft with K-2 at co-op (remind me NEVER to do that again!)...other than some wild little girls, I survived!!

Today, back to homeschool lessons. I feel so blessed to be able to teach my children at home. Gosh, I love those little rascals!

I also have TONS of paper work and phone calls to make to catch up for our homeschool group..and, I may even break my own rule and put up the Christmas Decorations before December 1st (GASP!!)

Since I was wiped out last night, I didn't get to work on Scrappy gifts..hopefully, I can get to that tonight...
